The new Hotel has been given the name Hotel Claudia Augusta in honour of the old Roman road which joined the ancient town of Altino with Germany, running right along the land on which the hotel is situated. The Sile river being navigable and passing at the 'bottom of the garden', has given the proprietors the idea of taking advantage of pick-up points along the banks to transport clients right to St. Mark's Square, a unique two-hour panoramic cruise on a characteristic river-boat.
